1951 80" Hard Top
Where do we start. First registered September 1951 later 2.0 full flow mod engine fitted one of the sweetest i have heard. 3 owners the last since 1980 and the previous was Mr R.J. Searle (Carawagon fame)from the 1950s. Carawagon did a lot of conversion work when they owned it including series 3 Station wagon rear seats, oversize windows, alpine lights in the roof, head padding in the rear, mud flaps, 205.16 tyres and 109 rims, overdrive, free-wheel hubs, Series Two steering box, spacers to allow the fully floating rear axle set up, smiths heater, under-sealed. New front seat bases fitted last year. The current owner has used it every year (yes the last 35) for towing his classic 1930s caravans and it has always been stored inside. As far as i can see it has never been welded but the bulkhead uprights and and foot well area could do with a bit of fettling. Like all classics there are a couple of jobs need doing but nothing major, fuel gauge and some door and windscreen seals. This is a vehicle that is well sorted and is very usable and straight out of the 1970s! It retains its original registration number. The Vehicle has been taxed and mots where due for every year of its life, now how unique is that! Its last trip in anger was a blast around the fantastic track for the Defender Celebrations at Goodwood as a invited vehicle chosen by JLR.
